Real Madrid v Valencia Champions League final 2000 at the Stade De France.

Right on the half way line with half the stadium in white and the other a sea of orange. You really thought you were at the epicentre of world sport for a few hours.

The best thing was being able to enjoy it not giving a fuck who won- unlike our playoff games and the 2006 FA Cup final where I had the shits for a week and my heart beat like a fucked clock. Too important to really enjoy.

I was reminded of another one of the greatest atmospheres last night when I saw The UK Subs at the 100 Club. It must have been around 1990 (maybe earlier) when I went to see them at the Paradiso in Amsterdam with Billy, my then girlfriend. Right woman, wrong time. A magical night.

Old Firm twice, one at Ibrox, the other Celtic Park, late 80's both mental.

Dortmund v Bayern Munich last season, cracking.

Roma v Lazio 2000 pretty tame
AC Milan v Inter Milan pretty tame 2002

Midweek England games at Wembley in the late 70s / early 80s pre- all seater were excellent... Keegan, Brooking etc.. modern Wembley is shit!

Remember going up there two nights running when v Hungary was called off just before kickoff due to fog and played the following night (4-1 I think).

Very atmospheric place the old Wembley.

Chelsea 4-0 Millwall in the shed. The only thing stopping Millwall getting on the pitch was the fences and about 20 police in each of the gaps in the fencing on the away end. They were charging down the terraces trying to get through. Proper funny.

Went with a load of Chelsea mates before a night out and had a right laugh.

Athletics at the Olympic stadium. I wouldn't know what the atmosphere is like at games not involving west ham. I don't go to them.

Good call. I've been lucky enough to see a few of their gigs in the last few years, fantastic atmosphere, everyone fired up, loved it.

In fact their gig at Hyde Park in 2012, alongside New Order and Blur was immense, Great day/night,

Done the Rome derby recently, and went to a lively Bristol derby in the early 80s, but best atmosphere non-WHU was
Man U//Barcelona, maybe 1983/84, ECWC quarters.

Old man had tickets because of some business sponsorship thing, Man U 0-2 after the away leg. Old Trafford rammed and Bryan Robson taking on Maradona and Schuster.
Classic come back, ManU win 3-0, place absolutely mental.
Not nearly as good as WHU//Ipswich home play off though.
